need some advice....
I haven't posted much lately but have been keeping tabs on all of you.. I wonder if anyone else has had the same problems:
I am having lots and lots of nausea and dumping syndrome. It doesn't matter what I eat - I can stick religiously to the prescribed eating guildelines or I can sneak the occassional "treat". Anything I eat makes me very nauseated.
The nausea is not restricted to eating - I can have a bout of it just any time of the day. Or upon waking in the morning. I don;t throw up - just gag and feel so sick.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
JOHN

Hi John,
I'm sorry you are having these issues. I can't say I am having this problem and planned to just say hi and suggest you call your surgeon. While thinking about this I thought about my strictures when I first had my surgery almost 6 years ago. I experienced the nausea, and dumping all the time. I doubt you have a stricture this far out, but it is definitely something that needs to be checked out. Your surgeon should have a Gastro doctor he uses who is familiar with your surgery.
God bless you and you ARE in my prayers. Please check with your doctor. It is probably something that can be cleared up quckly and simply.
Edited to add: Good hearing from you. Don't be a stranger. I'd be very interested in the outcome.

Geez, it is something in the water? I just got out of the hospital yesterday. Severe chest pains and thought I was having "the big one". I had 2 shots of morphine (don't EVER give me that crappola again) before the pain let up.
For the past 4 months I can't keep solid food down. I do OK with soft and slider foods otherwise it is REPEAT city with chest pains.
I have an appointment with a surgeon Tuesday to decide what needs to be done. They are leaning toward hiatal hernia that needs repairing or gallbladder issues.

Hey Gwen
I am with you ,,, I have a hiatal Hernia as well and it is adding to my issues I think. I am seeing the Gastro Dr but couldnt get in until August 4 in this one horse town so will struggle until then ..
The hernia will feel at times like your having a heart attack ,,,, NOT A GOOD THING ..
Hope you feel better soon

UPDATE: Gall Bladder is fine. No ulcers. B12 is dangerously low the DR says... could be part of the problem. He says I am borderline Pernicious Anemia. I have to look that one up. I am in line with Dr. Stahl (my RNY surgeon) for the earliest opening he has.
I miss everyone on the Board. Where are all of the folk that posted when I was a newbie and who cared and nurtured me thru those difficult first months? I could not have made it without you guys!
Love to all,
JOHN

Glad to hear you don't have an ulcer or gallbladder issues. I had to have my GB taken out last November, and it took a toll on me. I had a hard time recovering. Never heard of Pernicious Anemia either, but I'm intrigued, so I'll look it up too.
I got very lax on my vitamins and felt really crummy. I'm back to a regimen now and feel lots better. Get that B12 back up, boy!!
Take care.
