A Brand New Life

Nine years ago, at this very moment, my new life began.  I went into surgery weighing over 300 pounds.  9 years later I am still walking the weight loss road.  I have lost over 140 pounds and have kept it off.

In 2001 there were few choices for WLS.  RNY was the front runner.  I chose VBG as it was best for ME and ME alone.  I do not regret my decision and have never second guessed my choice.

It has been a long road filled with lots of heartache and sadness but mostly JOY.  I watched 2 more grandchildren come into our lives and said goodbye to both our mothers.

Had I never gained weight in the first place, I would not be where I am today.  I have formed lasting friendships with people all over the world.  I have learned to see the world with new vision.  A vision made possible by love and dedication.  Dedication to living my new life and the love of my family and friends.

Would I do it again?  You bet I would.

Fantastic Gwen!!!  It's been a long road we've travelled.  I'm so proud of your accomplishments.  Since my WLS I've gained a son-in-law, 3 granchildren and a brand new husband that I love dearly.  I've endured cancer and chemo.  I do name them seperately because the chemo was one of the most horrible things to ever happen to me.  The cancer of course was the culprit but I never felt pain or any other symptoms.  I've gone through so many changes and so many improvements.  Even with a little weight gain I still feel like I'm a winner.

Now, can you help me insert my before and after pics?  I have no idea how to do that.

You are such an inspiration!  I love to hear about the long term success.  You are living proof that many people do not fails after WLS....some people really do change their lives permanently!  Bravo!
