Revision Surgery

Hi Everybody,

I had gastric bypass in 2004 and have gained at least 50 lbs (maybe more...I run from the scale). Dr. Freeman in Anniston, Al did my surgery and did a wonderful job. I feel like such a huge failure.

My question is, do you know if Dr. Freeman does revision surgery (I'm interested in the lapband this time). If so, do you happen to know the cost? Thanks. By the way, I do have federal blue cross/blue shield insurance.

Just wanted to say that Dr. Freeman did my surgery also in 2003.   I have heard Dr. Freeman speak many times at our support group about regain.   If you will call his office and get in to see him he can help you.   When was the last time that you were in for a follow up visit?     As far as being a failure,     you are not.  The surgery was a sucess and you can do this again.    50 pounds is not a whole lot but it is a start and you can nip it in the bud if you start now.  The first step is calling his office and talking with Joyce or Ann and getting in to see Dr. Freeman and Tim

Do you live in the Anniston area?  If so come to the support group we have.  It has always kept me accountable for any weight gain.  .

Honestly, I only went to one follow-up visit to see Dr. Freeman. I thought I had this obesity under control but it is not.

I live in Opelika and I remember a few years ago that there was a support metting at the hospital. I will call Joyce or Ann tomorrow to take the next step. Thanks for the supportive advice.

OK, Opelika is just a little far for the support group.  Wished you lived closer as we have an awesome group.    What they have given us is a tool to gain control over the obesity.  We have to use our tool each and ever day.   In the mean time go back to basic's, protein firs****er and vitamins.  At least 64 oz of water ever day.  Aim for about 70 to 75 grams of protein each day.  If you still have your owners manual go back and read over it again.  Hope that helps you until you can talk with the office.

Thanks Louise. I will go back to the basics. I called my insurance company and it seems they probably won't pay for it. I did call Dr. Freeman's office and received some good information. Meanwhile, I will go back to the basics. I just don"t like the way I look now.

I'm sorry but I still have another question. Has anybody on this board had revision surgery? Is the experience similiar to the original procedure?

I don't know any one who has ever had a revision.  I think there is a revision forum here on OH.
