Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. (Malachi 3:10)
God's promise of abundant, overflowing blessing is directly linked to obedience in giving tithes and offerings to Him...To ask God to bless you financially even though you are in disobedience to His commandements is to ask God to overlook His own laws and statutes and to deny the truthfulness of His Word. God will not do that. Our role is to obey God in all matters, including our giving of tithes and offerings. I have heard people ask, if God cares, why are people starving. Well, we are not feeding them. We are God's arms and legs on earth and that is what we are here for, to care for each other, not just ourselves. I know that our church feeds the poor. Alone on Easter, we will be feeding 2,500 families. I praise God that people care. If you live a selfish life, that is exactly what you will have. You know...the most precious giving in the Bible, in my opinion, is the story about the Widow. Jesus saw that and I know that that woman was blessed beyond measure. She gave little as far as the monetary value was, but she gave her all. We are not to give only money, but time. When was the last time any of us called someone just to say "I care"? I know I could do much much better. If we would all give a little, our world and lives would benefit greatly. See, most people get so offended when you begin speaking of tithing, but this only leads to blessings. You cannot out give God. I promise.
