I just saw Dr. Freeman and have decided to go with him for RNY.  I am wondering if anyone else has used him and have advise.  I am also wondering if anyone on here goes to the support groups there.  Let me know!

I was going to use him but I emailed him with a question and he never returned my email so I had my surgery elsewhere.

Jane I used Dr. Freeman and is 6 1/2 years out.  He also has just done another surgery on me and boy am I glad that I used him.  When you use Dr. Freeman you get Tim as a bonus, 2 for the price of one.  The whole office staff is wonderful and when you enter his office it is not the typical office.  You do not feel like you are a patient but more like family.  I started attending the support group the week of my surgery and have only missed 1 meeting.  We have a wonderful time and  Ann who is also his nurse is our support group leader.  We will have support group on the 16th.  I was in the office today, sure wish I had known that you were there.   You will not regret using Dr. Freeman.  If you need anything please let me know.  I am sending you a PM so look for it.

I used Dr Freeman and  I traveled from the Dothan area to have him do my surgery.  I love his staff and his bedside manner.  He knew I was traveling a good distance and he prepped me pretty good.  I can do my follow ups by email, phone or fax.  I don't go to the support groups as it is just too far for me to travel, however if I lived in the area I sure would go to them.  The other thing I like is that he has gone through the process and so hs most of his staff.  They know how we feel, what we are going through and what we have to look forward to.

One surgeon I went to had a nut who has never had surgery or even been heavy.  How would she know how we feel.  How could she tell us how to eat if she has never has a problem with food?

Dr. Freeman is my surgeon.  I am so happy that I chose him and his staff.  They are some wonderful people.  I use to go to the support group, but my life got busy and I could not attend the meetings as I should.  I should go back, though.  They are great meetings.  You have chosen a great bunch.

Thanks for all the replies.  I felt the same way when i walked in.  I have seen several surgeons before I made my decision and it was completely different in Dr. Freeman's office.  The fact that he and some of his staff had WLS is a bonus.  I also liked the fact that he prayed in the conference with us.  You don't get that too often.  I think I've made the right decision and I'll be coming to a group meeting soon!
