OT: Need to Vent!!

So I got my light bill in the mail today.  It was over $300 for ONE month!?!?  I called the utilitie company and the rude heffer on the phone says, "Ms. Lovell this is a cold month, everyones bill has doubled" which my reply was...."people in ohio live in sub zero for several months out of the year, do you think they have $300 light bills?"  She then went on to list off that my bill isnt due until the 2nd of feb and that I could make partial payments until then.

Im a bit annoyed.  I like everyone, live on a budget, a tight budget now with baby on the way, and this heffer tells me I can pay a little weekly to bring the amount down by the due date.  Regardless of how many payments I make...ITS STILL OVER $300!! That was my point.

Anyone else in north alabama feel like the light companies have a monopoly and are royal pains in the tush?

Yes! I can understand adjustments based on usage but sometimes they take advantage!

we had to replace a fan.  it cost about $150 and now im having light bill issues....when it rains it pours!!  isnt that the saying.

Marla go on budget billing.  I am total electric and have 2 heat pumps, in the summer my bill is always on the low side but the winter eats us up.  I got on the budget billing and pay the same ever month.  I would much pay that extra during the summer than have a huge bill in the winter.

Yes,I can certainly understand.I live in Hartselle and found out 3 days ago that my bill is $418 I was outraged because they have threatened to shut me off before even though I had just gotten out of the hospital with a mild heart attack and there thing is it has to be paid by the 14 of every month or they come shut you off and now I am afraid we will have to pay this LARGE power bill by the middle of next month.Thank God for our income tax coming in.Praying it will get better for you!

Mine is $600.00 For 1 month. I am turning off everything
unplugged everything, use heat only if I have too, putting on layers of clothes.Cant pay this on what Maxie gets every month. I am more than steamed! very hot. Ellen

I have shut off both bedrooms and one bath and hallway I sleep on the couch in the living room. .I have not been staying here during the day at all and only a handfull of nights on this bill(Dec1 thru Jan 1) Keep the heat set on 68 and my bill was still $225. I hate to see it next month when the cold weather usage shows up. But what choice do we have. If the cat didn't sleep with me when I am home I would probably freeze to death.
