Did ya eat ya PEAS and GREENS?

Oh my gosh, that meal  sounds awesome.  I love me some fried chicken and fried okra. I don't fry anything around this house, so I reli**** whenever someone else makes it.  LOL  Still got collards, peas and cornbread left over.  Jill and Clint came in tonight and cooked deer cubed steak and ate some of the leftovers and made more mashed potatoes and biscuits. They stunk up my kitchen so bad with that deer meat.  They seemed to enjoy it cause they made a huge platter full and only had 4 pieces left, then they made a plate for Kyle and took it to him at work. He's gone from working SUnday nights to Saturday nights now.  I sent him a huge plate of food for dinner, so I guess he got an extra plate for snack. It won't hurt him to eat two plates.  LOL  He can afford to eat a couple of extra meals.  He's doing well keeping his weight up and the doctor is very proud of him.  he is still suffering greatly from those horrible migraines and will be going in for a CT scan on Wed. of this week.  We just hope and pray they don't find anything.  His mama suffers badly from them and always has as long as I've known her and even longer.

If I have time tomorrow, Sunday, I will go by and buy the catus.  I cannot right this minute remember how I fixed it before, but I will have it for Thursday night, if I can remember.  It is the Mexican equivalent to green beans.  The other thing that they eat are Mesquite beans.  It makes a really great jelly.  There is a Mexican grocery about the size of Publix just down the street from me, and I will check and see if they are open tomorrow or Monday and see if I can get some odd stuff for you all to sample.  I would like to get some traditional tamales for you...that is Mexican party food.

Oh, the cactus sounds good.  I look forward to trying it.  Oh my goodness....traditional tamales...now you are speaking my kinda language.  I have wanted to try an authentic real mexican tamale like FOREVER.  I hope you have luck finding them.  Oh, is there anywhere you can get me some real mexican vanilla?  If you can, would you please get me a big bottle and I will pay you for it when you come home.

 I wish I knew where I could get some oysters on the half shell to buy for Thursday.  I would bring those.  It had been years since I'd tried them until last Sunday when Beverly and I went to Wentzel's and we split an order.  They were SO GOOD!  Makes me want more of them. I love oysters anyway I can get them.  I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them last week.

Well, my family always has black eyed peas for luck on New Year's Day... but, they put money in their peas... my grandmother boiled her loose change, then added it to the pot of peas... that is how they got the little kids to eat them... I remember racking up quarters and dimes... it was too much FUN!!! Today, I bet DHR would be on my doorstep taking my kid away from me if I did that now!!!!

I did Elle!!!  Then, they made me sick!!  Everything I eat lately makes me nauseated.  But anyway, I ate my greens and peas and made hush puppies in my new quisinart deep fryer Lucy got me for Christmas.  That little deep fryer has already paid for itself!  LOL  love ya Elle and we sure do miss you!!

Nope....no cooking for me!
We had finger foods for my Mom worked and I ran errands as the guys kept an eye on Jessie as they watched football.
We had hot wings, pizza and homemade pimento cheese with celery!
