Update on Evalyn
First of all, I want to thank everyone for the pm's and calls regarding our little Evie. It has been devastating to watch her go through this, to say the least. Especially with her being just one week old.
Evalyn was moved to a regular Ped. room yesterday ~ so, that is a HUGE praise report. She is now OFF of the oxygen which means her O2 levels are good. She is off of her I.V. fluids and is nursing. She's not nursing like she was for she is very sleepy from her seizure medication, and this will get better in the next few days as her liver becomes more used to the medication.
The seizures are believed to be related to her having epilepsy, not due to her having the staph infection. Evalyn has a strong family history for epilepsy (maternal and paternal), although in the family cases of epilepsy, the family members did not begin having seizures until later in childhood (toddler years and older, not in infancy).
The MRI is scheduled for Monday, so after this is done and reviewed she may be released pending the results. All of the results of the other testing have been fine with the exception of the EEG which showed her seizure activity and the section of the brain it was affecting.
I just hope & pray that she'll be home for Christmas! (As long as she is well enough to be home that is!)
Love Y'all! Thanks to each of you again.

Hi Jackie,
It's good to see you posting an update.
I feel like I fell down on the job. I have been praying for Evie and the whole family, but I've been sick with the crud all weekend and have done a lot of sleeping.
It's good to hear that they have a probable cause of the seizures. When you know what you're dealing with you can move on to solutions and treatments.
I know Olivia and Albert must be overwhelmed. As such young and new parents to be dealing with such serious illness with a 1 week old baby. You have been such a good grandmother and a STRONG mother to Olivia. I'm proud of you...you rock as a Mom and a GrandMom!!
You all continue to be in my prayers. Please let me know if there is anything I can do beyong the prayers. I love you all. You are a special family and prayers for Evie come first on our BAMA BOARD and other issues will always be here. LOVE YOU!!!

You have done a fantastic job - thank you!
I think I got your cold over the phone...lol. I'm now congested as well, and I stayed at home from the hospital on Sunday because of it.
We will let you know if we need anything.
I will contact you as I know more following the MRI later today. I'm working today, then I am off the remainder of this week. My Mom and Sonny are driving down tomorrow for a few days.
We are hoping that she will be D/C'd today following the MRI results.
Love you too.

Hey there all of you Culpeppers! I cannot tell you how much your post means to me. Thank you.
We all love each of you as well...and I can feel that extension of love from north AL.
Thank you for the prayers for Evalyn, Albert and Olivia. Albert and Olivia are handling this as best they know how - it has been very hard on them both, especially Olivia.

Jackie,
I'm so sorry I didn't know about this sooner. Still no computer at home. I am relieved that she is better and that you now know what the problem is. Evalyn will be in my prayers and I'll be praying that she is home in time for Christmas.
You are much loved!!

I am so thankful to hear this Praise report. I have been praying for Evie and I know GOD has had his hand in this and will bring her home. If not in time for Christmas but soon enough; well so that she may enjoy the love of her precious family.
Let me know if I can do anything or help out. I don't mind driving over. I am here just a cell phone call away.
