My surgery is tomorrow at Huntsville Hospital.  Right now I have a blinding headache and can't take anything for it.  Tylenol doesn't help.

Let me also welcome you to the Bama Board.  This is a good place to be as a newbie (as I can attest being only eight months out). Lots of great people with great answers and advice if you have questions.

Wish you luck tomorrow and will be thinking of you!

Hi Yall,
I'm just getting started in researching the different types of gastric surgeries, insurance and different doctors in Alabama.  I would love any information or direction in which way to research.  I have read so much on the different types, and I am thinking about lapband or possibly gastric sleeve.  Any thoughts on those????  Would love to know how you know what doctor is right for you.  Any good questions to ask???  I also have a question about the comorbid thing.  I do have sleep apnea, but don't have high blood pressure or diabetes.  Are those the only cormorbidities (not sure about spelling) ?    Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!!

The importance of the co-mobidities is related to your BMI and your insurance.  If you have a really high BMI, they are not as important.  You probably have some gastric reflex - that counts.

I chose RNY because I had ALL the co-morbidities, and RNY is my best chance to cure (or almost) cure them.  I had originally thought I wanted lap-band, but it wouldn't have helped my diabetes and is (from what my Dr. says) too easy to circumvent.  I admit I didn't study gastric sleeve very much.
