Sleep ...Where Did It Go? (x-post)
Before the surgery, I could fall asleep anytime, any place. Give me a good 5 minutes and a sista was OUT.
Well, since the surgery, sleep is not easy to come back. I lay down at night, and It takes a good 30 mins for me to even nod off. I don't nap anymore...which in a way, is not really a bad thing.
Has anyone one else had a problem with sleeping since the surgery? What do you do? Does this wear off? I am only a month out...does it get better?
When I lay down at night, I WANT TO SLEEP. I appreciate any suggestions!

Yeah, been there....done that. Still have problems with sleep...I usually take tylenol PM after missing a few nights. I think it's your body readjusting. Now when I exercise (walk) regularly, I sleep like a baby, lol.
Watch your caffeine intake closely...I think our bodies tolerate it differently after we've had WLS, and it might be a trigger to your insomnia. Wish I could tell you when it will end, but I'm 5 1/2 yrs out, and STILL suffer from it.

I am a notorious insomniac! However, since I've been going to the gym six days a week and take the prescribed 4 (yes count them FOUR) sleeping pills the Dr. gave me I am sleeping better--or maybe I'm just in a nightly coma.

DeShanna, It's been 7 1/2 years since my surgery and I haven't been able to sleep since day one after my surgery. I have been on sleep meds ever since. I kinda figured, I'd slept so much of my life away, that my body was telling me to get up and move and get those pounds off. LOL I would get up in the middle of the night and clean house, wash clothes and everything.......just going and going and going like the energizer bunny..... It was a shame. All I wanted was to sleep, but sleep was not to be had. I thank God the dr. finally put me on some sleep meds and still sometimes I have to add tylenol PM to the mix. I haven't slept well in the past couple of weeks since I was in the hospital. I hope you get some sleep soon and if you don't, please ask your dr. for some meds to help you. Our bodies NEED sleep. We can't function without it.
