6th month checkup
Hey everyone my 6th month checkup was yesterday. I saw my surgeon and nutritionist. Both said I'm right on track. I've lost 86lbs and my BMI was 31.9. My nutritionist wants my BMI under 30 and I'm pretty darn close. My labs were good accept my pottassium is a tad low but they didn't tell me to take any. Both said I need to up my protein though, I haven't been keeping track but the nutritionist estimated I was only getting around 50 grams a day based on what I told him. I'm exited because they both said I can now try STEAK yum, and can swallow pills. I asked about what I could do to keep from going bald, and the surgeon said protein the nutritionist said protein and biotin, any one taking that. Anywho was just going to keep everyone updated, thanxs for everyones support.
Yay YOU! Congrats!!!!

Awesome!!!! Way to go! Now, as for the hair issue. I started losing mine around 4 1/2 months....I had very thick hair, and have lost about 2/3 of it...I don't have bald spots, it is just thinner. There is NOTHING you can do to prevent it--if you are gonna lose it, you are just gonna. I am taking Biotin and I use Nioxin. They only help with re-growth....no effect on the hair you are gonna lose. On the upside--it only takes 6 minutes to dry my hair, and I have tons of 2 in new growth sprouting up everywhere.
A small price to pay for the wonderful new life I have after WLS!!
Keep up the great work!

Great Job!
I guess the hair loss thing if different for everyone. I took Biotin for a couple weeks as per my surgeons orders, but after a couple of weeks, I just kinda forgot to take them anymore. Never lost a hair....go figure.
Anyhoo, congrats on your success!

You are doing so great! Good luck with the steak. Just be sure to chew it VERY well. It was quite a while before I could eat steak, no matter how well I chewed! But I do pretty well with it now. It's one of those things that fill me up in just a few bites! But wow, it is such great protein. Please do try to up your protein intake. I am 3 1/2 years out and I get in trouble EVERY time I go for my checkup due to low protein levels. They are hard to get up once they get low. Also, I know people say you can't do anything about the hair, but the better care you take of yourself (vitamins, protein, etc), the better your hair will fare. Mine fell out too, but only for about 2 months and everyone tells me how healthy it looks now. Sometimes you can tell a WLS person who doesn't take good care of themselves by how their hair looks, just my opinion.
