There is a thrift store up here that usually has $1 an item day. A few weeks ago I bought floor length dress for my work Christmas party for $1.

Sorry Elle,  I bought two long coats at the Alabaster Thrift Store for $4.00.  Never been worn when i bought it.  I would give you one of mine but they are small.

Loretta, they are selling them all over town at a bargain.  You can get a brand new one for what you can buy one at a thrift store this time of year. 

I went to the Barrel.  They did not have any pea coats.  I did find a brand new, navy blue short coat (not dressy).  I bought it because someone will use it...if no one else...I will LOL.  It still has the tags on it.  It was $1.00.  I love the Barrel LOL  I will kep looking for a pea coat for you, though.

TRy Target, according to the online ad they are between 40 to 50 dollars.  That is a pretty good price for a coat of any kind.  I did not check Kmart or Walmart.

Walmart has three colors and two different kinds for $28.00 and .97 shipping to your home.  One of the options is a black and white houndstooth.

K Mart's are a little higher...they are $49.00, some of them are available only through mail order.  They have several models to choose from.  Basically, you can get a really good coat for under $50...and that is a pretty good price for a new coat

I got my black pea coat at JcPenney Outlet for $29.99 a few weeks ago and I love it. Not sure if there's a JCP outlet near where you live.

A co-worker has a size large Navy Blue Pea Coat.  It is too small for her.  All you will have to do is maybe have it dry cleaned.  I am sending it to you tomorrow.  My treat.  Merry Christmas.  It isn't black, but it is very nice.
