Jayden is 5, he'll be 6 four days after Christmas. So i have to buy Christmas/Birthday at once and then just seperate what i decide for Birthday.

My Problem: He doesnt have a wish list. He's asked for a rifle and a bazooka. He already has one gun, i dont see the need for another i told him he wasnt getting a rifle. I AM however thinking about getting a BB Gun. other than that i have no earthly idea what to get him. He has a Leapster and loves it. I was thinking about maybe getting a Wii and it being a present to the both of us. Or maybe getting him a DS. Do any of your kids/grandkids have one of these 2? Im thinking the Wii may be too young for him still and he'd appreciate it more next year.

anywho,i need ideas for J for Christmas. what are your kids/grandkids asking for??

Have you looked at the DS or DSI? K-Mart will have a sale on them on blackfriday the boys pack has lego starwars with it.

Jayden is just a little younger than my Christy and she's wanting one so bad! Before getting a Wii I'd make a trip to Gamestop and see what games are out there that he'd be interested in.

Please do not get him a BB gun.  There was an 11 year old child in Waycross Ga that was shot with a BB gun this past weekend and it pierced his aorta.  Now this is just my thinking of a Grandmother.  But we can never be careful with our babies.  It appears that these children were playing around and this unfouranate accident happened.

Both of my nephews love their DS's and their Wii's. I think either would be great for him I would just decide by how much would you be willing to play with him on the WII. I know with the DS if there is another child within so many feet the kid can chat, or play games together as well its a cool little feature! On the other hand Id love a WII so I could have a WII fit..

Best buy also has the Wii and Wii fit together on sale on black friday and you get a $25 gift card if you purchase both! Wii fit is alot of fun.
Thor has one and he's Jaden age (Kristi's son).

My birthday falls one week after Christmas. Every year my Mom would put back the one gift I begged Santa for and I'd get it on my birthday. I have a sister who is almost my age (we are 10 months apart). So imagine you both asking for the barbie car- and she gets hers and you get clothes. She plays with hers for a week! Or the time I was 15 and so wanted a pair of boots.. or the time I wanted a trampoline and I passed it each day in the hall.. It was in a box against the wall and I had no idea! lol
I hated getting presents in Christmas wrapping paper.. so try to get him a gift wrapped in birthday wrapping paper. :) It makes his birthday seem more individulized even though it's a difficult time of the year!
WOW.. I was a dumb kid you'd think after pulling that on me each year I'd realize I was getting it next week

Julie that is my biggest pet peeve. i raise a huge fuss about ANYONE that gives him a birthday present wrapped in Christmas paper. I throw a fit and maybe i shouldnt but everyone else gets 2 special times. He should too. I will NEVER give him a birthday present in Christmas paper. I just buy the gifts all together and seperate what im going to wrap in birthday paper. thats what i meant!!!!

I think i've settled on a DS. I think i'll wait and get him the Wii next year. I think he'd appreciate it more. Im not huge on video games but i do want one too. mainly for the wii fit. haha.

I need to find him more stuff. he just hasnt asked for anything. I decided against the BB Gun already so thats out. He doesnt need clothes and well that no fun to a boy whos 5. hahah.

im clueless. this is the first year thats actually been HARD.

It only gets harder as they get older.. kids think of more technology and the latest fad and it too fades. So sad but true!

I am glad you do that for him. As you can see, I'm 37 and I remember so J will remember how special you made his birthday even though it is close to Christmas. And yes, He should have his own special day after all those who have June birthdays get wrapping paper! :)

Good luck, and have fun!

I'm so glad to hear ya say that you raise a huge fuss about the Christmas paper wrapped birthday gifts!  My birthday is on the 13th of Dec., and I would get birthday gifts wrapped in Christmas paper or I would get handed one gift (usually from a friend), and they would say, "Happy Birthday, and oh, Merry Christmas".  I felt as if I wanted to do the same to them, even if their birthday was in July!

I tell you what, J is one blessed young man!  You are one awesome Mom!

Oh, yea.. NO BB gun.. a child was killed here as well this summer by a BB gun.
And last week Gerry spent the night with a child (who's father has custody of him and I met him) and that child shot Gerry 5 times. He has 5 scabbed over holes. He can never go back.
He has 4 on his back and one on his side. I told him that child is no friend when he shoots him and finds it funny.

Hey Hillary,

Just a quick reply. Austin, my 6 yr. old grandson is getting a DS from his mom and dad for Christmas and they are giving him a skateboard with handle bars which transforms later into a regular skateboard for his birthday. They have a Wii for the family but he really needs adult supervision or someone to play with him in order to use teh Wii. I'm getting him gift cards to Game Stop - that's for Christmas. For his birthday I'll be getting him a remote control helicopter which he is dying to get his hands on. His birthday is Dec. 16. I always wrap his birthday gift in birthday paper and we have a party just for him. He loves all the attention.

Love,
DebbieDoo
