I Didn't Tell Y'all This, But...

a few weeks ago I went for my annual with my new bariatric M.D. here in Pensacola, Dr. Lord.
I work with a lady who just had WLS and he was her M.D., so she had given me the "warning" that he had "0" bedside manner.   I really wasn't looking for bedside manner, rather I was looking for a physician who would be evaluate "me" where I am at, my labwork and take care of my health needs...but, I "braced" myself for the worse.

My very lowest weight EVER since WLS has been 166#, but my body tends to "like" 175#.  That is my weight today, and it was 178# the day I was in his office.  I thought surely I was going to "hear" about my weight when I got back into the room for I was higher than 166#.
He interviewed me for my history (like any good physician would with a new pt.), looked over my labs and did a  check up.

He said if I were his patient coming back to him as a 5 year post op check up appointment that he would be proud to have me as his patient.  Don't you know my face lit up like the 4th of July?  He said my labs were excellent, and my weight looked great - better than most at 5 years post op.  He said whatever you are doing - keep on doing it.  What?  This is what I "braced" myself for?  (I could get used to this!  )

He is going to do an EGD.  I asked for this for I am having problems with nausea.  About 3 years ago I had the problems with nausea, had an EGD then and was diagnosed with GERD and possible barrett's esophagus which was later ruled out not to be.  I was told  to f/u routinely with EGD's to monitor for barrett's esophagus because of the areas they found on my esophagus.

Thanks Shirley...my EGD isn't for well over a month.  With my schedule, it is difficult for me to get in to have it done.

That's wonderful!  We could all use more docs like him!

It sounds like you have found a good doctor. And you are doing great Ms Sunshine!!! I sure do miss you. I need to come around more often but this bookkeeping job keeps me busier than a dog scratching fleas. I love it though.
