I'm sorry you are experiencing a plateau. They are tough, but they do pass. I can't really help you with the amount of calories you should eat because I never counted calories and my highest weight was 310 lbs.
I do know that you have done an awesome job and I hope you took your measurements in the beginning so that you can see that you are losing inches during this time even if the pounds aren't falling off.
The exercise does put more muscle on and muscle does weigh more so sometimes even though you are losing fat, you may not see the pounds coming off. When you hit a plateau it helps to shake things up. Do something different with your diet. Change things...change what you're eating, how much you're eating, when you're eating...add more protein, less protein, add salads, make sure you are getting your fluids in. Ease up on the muscle building exercise and do a little more cardio. These are suggestions I have seen people make and others have seen the weight loss start up again. I think even if you are doing what works for you, you will start losing again. Of course at six months the weight loss does slow down sometimes. You may not lose as fast as you did in the beginning.
Have you checked out www.fitday.com. It is a website that allows you to chart your foods. I believe it also figures how many calories you need to lose or maintain weight.
Good luck, hang in there...you are doing GREAT!!!
Oh yeah...the song was beautiful!!!! It was definitely a feel good message even though I listened to it tonight! Thank you for sharing!!
Gary,
I have been fiddling farting around with the same five pounds since July. I feel your pain. When stuff like this happens, I find it helpful to stay off the scale but once a week and concentrate on my choices and behaviors. As long as I am doing what I need to do and am feeling good, the rest has always followed. Don't worry ... keep working. :-)
Take care,
Janice
Once again thanks.
