I know I know its early. I have been home what all of three days... but I must brag on my God. He is so Awesome. He is the one who gave me this opportunity to extend my days here in this life. I know He has much more for me to do. MY brag is... after surgery my blood sugars were 289. they were down to 200 when I got home. I took 250mg of metformin thrusday morning. last night after dinner , fish and potatoes, my blood sugars were 170 and one hour later they were back down to 134.. Yahoo.. that didnt happen before sugery. I am so excited... I got up took my sugars just about an hour ago and they are 150 without bedtime meds... It use to take 500 mg of janumet to get those results... In just a few days out from surgery  I am going in the right direction. I know  it seems small to some but this is the whole reason for the surgery for me. Diabetes is aweful... and I dont want to have any more pain, and suffering from this disease. Thank You Lord Jesus for the gift of life more abundant.

Hi Mendy.  It is so good to see your posting!!!  I am glad you are doing well.

I am going to be the big, bad, bear here.  Did your surgeon say okay to "real" food?  My surgeon was really laid back about eating but I could not have regular food for 3 weeks.  I had to start with liquids then on week 2 move to soft and then after 3 weeks add a little more dense food.  I ate jello, soup and runny mashed potatoes for so long.  I just was concerned you may have problems later if you are not supposed to be eating regular food now.

Hope you continue to have wonderful days!!!!  It gets better each and every day.

My Doctor put me on the liquids before surgery and sent me home on phase three... puree style foods. its going down really good today. just cant do eggs or chicken. liked the fish. but so long as its really soft and very moist its ok. I hope... I have mostly had cottage cheese and apple sauce with protein drinks. only one semi regular pruee meal a day. eating about 2.5 ounces at a time three  to four times a day. what do you think is that too much.. I can call my Dr on monday and tell him what I am doing I dont want to ruin my new tummy. food is going down much better than it did wednesday. I would freak out if I messed it already. I do think that I am drinking too fast. but not sure. I was told 1 ounce every 5 mins. thats 12 oz an hour. it seems thats about what I am doing. thanks for ALL the advice I want it so I dont goof this up.

thanks.

Mendy, different doctors have different requirements and standards.  The thing to do is to listen to your doctor.    If you ask for opinions you will get as many different ones as people giving them.  Everyone has a plan.  I am sorry I have you worried.  If everything is going down well then it must be okay.  Just keep it very moist and eat slowly.  You are not going to goof it up!!!
Please keep us posted.  We really are interested in your progress!!!

Thank you for your praise report--and it makes me ashamed that I have not given God the credit for what he has done for me.  I was a Type ll diabetic (not severe) for 15 years, but since surgery my blood sugar has been under control.  I have not had to have any diabetic medication or insulin since surgery.  Praise God!
