Pregnancy after WLS ?????????
I haven't posted in sooooo long....I come by every once in a while and check in. My dh and I are struggling with a surgical procedure that must be done and during that procedure I will have the opportunity to have a tubal reversal and try to get pregnant. I had my RNY in Sept. 2005, and have maintained my weight for about 2 1/2 years.....
Has anyone gotten pregnant or tried since they lost their weight....any advice or suggestions out there??? My dh isn't certain he wants to have more (we already have dd - 9 & ds - 6)....but we are praying diligently and seeking lots of advice.
Please let me know if you have any input!!!
Thanks,
Emily

I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my second post-op baby, my first is now 19 months old. I wasn't able to get pregnant prior to WLS, so I can't compare pregnancies. They have been very UNeventful pregnancies. I will say that post WLS getting pregnant is VERY VERY easy. I have not been considered high risk, the only difference between me and my OB's "regular" pregnant patients is I wasn't able to do the sugar drink for GD.
If you want another baby, I say go for it.. it won't "break" your tool, but you will have to work after the baby to get the weight back off. I have gained 20 pounds this pregnancy.
Dr. Dewitt was my surgeon too! There's a post-op pregnany board on this site too, you may want to check it out. Some of the ladies on there have had pre-op and post-op babies and may be able to offer you more advice than I can.
Best of Luck!

I spoke with Judy at Dr. Dewitt's office and she said that Dr. DeWitt is okay with me getting pregnant!!!! If I do get pregnant he wants to see me during my pregnancy to make sure I am staying as healthy as possible.....so, now I need my dh to decide that we **really** need a third child!!!!
