Any support groups in Auburn or Montgomery?

Hi everyone.  I am pre-op and seeing a surgeon in Birmingham.  However, I was wondering if there is a support group closer to home.  Anyone know of a group close to Auburn or Montgomery?  I just want to get as educated as possible about the surgery and have contacts for afterwards.  I'd love to meet contacts on here too!  I don't know anyone that has had the surgery and reading about your journeys has been a great help!  Thanks!

I'm not aware of any in Auburn...at one time I think there was one at EAMC but it no longer meets to my knowledge....before my time.  I'm sure there are some in Montgomery but don't know where, when, etc. 

LaGrange may have one at their hospital....can't remember...

I just had my surgery on Aug. 31 and I have two friends who have RNY surgery and know of 1 more.  My surgeon is in B'ham also.  I love their support group and wi**** wasn't so far or I would go to it.

Have you been approved?  Where are you in the process?

I had surgery in March and live in the Auburn area.  I used Dr. Dewitt in Bham.  I have not been able to find a supoort group in this area.  It is sad as large as this area is and as many people that have had surgert in this area there is no support.  Let me know if you find one.  I would be glad to talk to you and share my experence.  I have done wonderful and I am very please with my results so far.

There is a support group in Montgomery.  It is done at the UAB building across the street from Baptist South Hospital.  The meetings are held on the third Thursdays of each month starting at 6pm.  Hope this helps.
