Has anyone else had more dental problems after gbs, than before. I am having a good bit of dental problems and am wondering if it is from the malasorbtion? I take calcuim and d everyday, I sure wish I knew what would help, dental work is expensive!

I have, but I also take a medication that contributes to dental problems.  So I don't know what or if both have caused my problems.

Thanks Carmen, I have never had perfect teeth, but the past few years, oh boy, mega bucks.

I've had a lot of dental problems but don't know how much is because of surgery (5 years out). I was operated on for thyroid cancer in March and my parathyroid gland(calcium gland, distributes calcium thru the body) was already engufed and was nonworking. So it was removed but there is no telling how long it had not been working like it should. I take extra calcium, and Vitamin D but calcium is still a little low. I am having a lot of trouble right now with my teeth. If things don't get a little better soon my only concern will be which cup to put them in at night. I wish you luck. Love, Miss Mary

Thanks for the reply, Miss Mary, I am hypothyroid, not sure if that affects calcium or not, I need to take extra calcium and d3 and see if that helps,
I hear ya on which cup to put them in,lol, that is what i am trying to avoid.

Jan I have had a lot of dental problems since WLS.  I have had 3 teeth to just break off when eating soft foods.   I have had crowns replaced, crowns put on the ones that I broke.    The last tooth that broke was so bad that it could not be fixed.  I am keeping my dentist in business.  I have asked if it could be WLS related and the answer I got was probaly not but more age related.  Wish I could tell you more.  But yes I am right there with you.

Louise, I had wondered if it could be age, or maybe both, I'm not sure, It porbably wouldn't hurt to take a little extra calcium though, may give that a try.
Thanks for replying,
