I hope I never...
I hope I never have to receive another iron infusion. This thing has really kicked my butt. I thought I was getting it to feel better, not worse. Seems like I have had 1 reaction after another. However, I did only like 250 mls receiving a double dose in 1 infusion, which is their reasoning for the side effects. All I know is I have felt like poo for days. On Wed morning of last week, I woke up with the nodes in my head and neck enlarged and VERY tender. My pcp was extrememly concerned and order more labs, again. We heard from those and they are little funky but not too bad. He put me on some very strong antibiotics "just in case". Nodes are still enlarged, not as bad and only 1 is tender. NO new ones since Thursday. He thinks it may be something bacterial. I think it is something reactive from the iron. My immune system has been haywire since all of this. You guys please keep me in your prayers. Please ALSO pray this infusion holds because I NEVER WANT ANOTHER ONE!!

Bless your heart! I have had 2 iron infusions, and they didn't make me feel better right away. I didn't really have any side affects. But i still can't seem to get my energy back. I am taking a B-12 shot every month now and I still feel drained. I have to get my blood work done in 2 weeks .I hope my bariatric passin fruit irons have helped mine.. I think I need more protein and fluids. If you know of anything that could help with energy, pass it on to me. I hope you are feeling alot better soon. Take Care!
Lisa,
I felt much better yesterday and it is looking like I am going to feel better today also....(keeping fingers crossed)! My doctor increased my b12 to 1cc every day for 1 week, then 2cc's weekly for one month and then back to my regular 2cc's biweekly. The b12 increase gave me a more energy until I went back to the 2cc's biweekly. However, my b12 was also low. Ask your doctor about increasing your b12 to 2cc's biweekly and see if that helps. This amount held me until my iron got really low. I wish I knew something we could do to get/keep a good energy level. I also think lack of protein has alot to do with the slugish feeling (when all else is in order). Best of luck to you!
