Need some advice friends
I need an opinion. I was laid off from my job of 9 years back in June. I then had my surgery 6 days later. As most of you know I've had a time with my potassium's and just an over all yucky feeling. My family Dr told me to take six weeks instead of two to start looking for a job to make sure I was OK. So I did. When I was able I turned in resume after resume with no luck. So on August 2ND I applied for unemployment and my previous employer fought it saying they had work, there idea of work was 100 miles from the house, part time, and minimum wage. I was working 50 hrs a week for 13hr. Unemployment also required a medical release before my claim could be processed and my surgeon was out of the office for weeks. So I'm panicking because my savings have run out my medical bills are coming in and I can't find work and we had a vacation planned for October that's partially paid for that we may have to cancel. OK so here's the deal this past week there were 3 jobs in the paper that I'm highly qualified for so I send in resumes. Monday I check the bank and my unemployment claim has processed and I got back pay I almost cried. I took that money and paid off all my medical bills and other debt. It was a miracle. Well I also got a call for an interview. After much debating I decided I'd at least go on the interview. My husband doesn't think I'm up to par to work yet and I don't know. He's also concerned we'll have to cancel our trip that he had to fight to get off for. He says with my unemployment coming in we'll be well taking care of and I need to heal more. I agree but I've never not worked and what happens when unemployment runs out this economy being so bad. So I went on the interview and it went OK but there were also others there interviewing who were way more experienced than me. So I went home believing I tried but I probably wasn't going to get the job and I was OK with that because I'm getting unemployment and alls good. I got a call today and they want a second interview. I'm torn I don't want to seem lazy but if I get the job and I'm not as experienced as they hope they could fire me and then no more unemployment, oh and the pays about 3-4 dollars less than what I'm used too. So I need some advice everyone in my family says do what you feel is right, but I'm torn I still don't feel worth a dang half the time but do I pass up this opportunity. Help me please. I'm sorry this is so long I've always trusted your opinions before and need them now you guys are the only friends I've got.

Amy,
My personal opinion is take the time to get the right job and take care of yourself. You've fortunate to have the unemployment and while I definitely understand your wish to get back to work immediately now might not be the best time. Do you mind if I ask what type of work you do? Huntsville has been fortunate to just recently see the downturn in the economy but some fields are thriving.
I recently changed jobs and love my new company but I was worried about getting laid off so I wanted it to be on my terms since I'm the bread winner of the family.
Good luck!!!

Have you looked to see if OHG ****upational Health Group) has any openings? (I know they have an office in the Hsv Hospital med mall on Govenors) They handled the nurses out on the manufacturing plant I use to do computer work at. You can look at a couple of security places like Securitas but the pay isn't that great.
I wish you the best of luck its a hard decision to make.

Hey amy,
I'm probably a day late and a dollar short, but my thought is whether you want the job or not, go on the second interview. It is good practice for you. You can decide between then and a job offer if you really want the job and, should they make you the offer, you can say your health prevents it or you can't accept it.
We all need practice at interviewing, but in this economy too nothing is as employable as an employed person: sometimes you have to take A job to get THE job ... and this may be part of that process.
There is nothing wrong with letting them know that you have needs to be accomodated for when you are hired.
