Well, I made it!
I made it through the iron infusion yesterday! 1750 mls of iron infused. Dr. Kellum said I should be feeling better in 3 - 4 days. The insufion wasn't too bad, I had some nausea and body aches during the infusion. I spoke w/the doctor prior to the infusion about how easily nauseated I become w/meds, he ordered me to take 1 zofran when I left home for the infusion, then he ordered zofran to be given w/the infusion. I made it pretty good. Got really nauseated when I left the building and got out in the heat, this lasted for about 20 minutes. Last night I had some pretty bad joint pain, in my knees, right jaw, hands and lower back. Today I mostly just ache in my hands, knees, lower back and my hands are swollen (I have had a 2 lb weight gain over night, I am holding fluid for some reason). Today it feels more like I have been on a very long road trip (stiff and sore) instead of pain. The infusion center told me to expect severe pain in the iv site on the 3rd day, due to a reaction from the iron. The RN said not everyone has this reaction but, it' s common and if I do to place a warm towel or heating pad on my hand to help releave the pain. If I feel as well in 3 - 4 days as the doctor thinks I will, all in all it has been worth it so far.

Thanks Elle!! I will let you know how things go! I feel better, just not up to speed...lol! The Dr told me I might feel fatigued due to large amount he was having infused. He even questioned infusing in two parts due to the dose but decided to go ahead and do it all in one. Hope you have a good weekend!

Thanks Neena! As many of you know, I am now OCD about weight gain. I still weigh myself 2 - 3 times per day (more on days when I have had a weight gain like this morning).
