Weight Loss Update

This is so cool!

I have lost over 100 pounds in the last 4 months. I am so thankful for this tool that is allowing me to get healthy. That's right--I called it a tool--because it is NOT a magic bullet that makes weight fall off magically.

WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) helps with your appetite and in some cases gives an amount of mal-absorption to keep some of the calories (as well as the nutrients from being absorbed into the system.) But one still has to eat the correct amount of the correct food and exercise like a fiend to lose weight quickly. It is not the easy way out as many think, and it is not bullet proof.

If you do not make a lifestyle change commitment--you can gain all the weight back and more. My hats off to those long-timers who have had the perseverance to stay at goal for years. That is my goal. I do not want to go back where I was with no life. I don't think I can stand it.

It does seem fast Ellen--but I also have another 123 pounds to go that won't come off that fast.  I am figuring it will take me 18 to 24 months to make goal.  But I am not complaining.

Amen Gary!  It gripes my butt to see these folks that have it, never exercise, and eat crap all day long..........and then whine that "the surgery didn't work for me"....THEY DIDN'T WORK FOR THE SURGERY!  I consider this a gift, and I treat it with respect....and I put many hours and blood sweat and even tears into that freakin gym.....and I do not like to exercise, but I do it because I know I MUST.  Also, there are foods I miss, and drinks I miss.....(Dirty Martinis!) but that passes after a while.

You are doing great, and you are an inspiration.  I have no doubt you'll be at goal one day, maintain that weight and helping mentor newbies for years to come!

 Great job, Gary!!!!
I lost 100# in 6 months...took me about a year to lose the other 43#. You are SO right....the weight can and WILL come back if we ignore the basics and get too lazy!! Our bodies have been revised, but our brains are the same. Old habits die hard, and it is easy to slip back in to the old way of doing things.
Keep up the good work,,,,awesome progress so far!!
