Wow Shirley...you have said so much to me here.  I honestly did not know that about Citracal.  I am going to see Dr. Freeman in a couple of weeks and I am going to change my vitamins.  I do need to exericise.  Due to all my back surgeries, there is few exercises I can do, but I CAN walk.  I am just busy or lazy or something LOL.  Thank you for this.

Be sure to ask Dr Freeman on the Citracal ... My internal med Dr, My ortho Dr and my GYN all told me the same thing on that .  I was doing the chews and a couple other calcium.    After my RNY when i did my density test it was down...   I was started on Citracal with D 4 years ago taking 2 in am and 2 before bedtime ..  Had another test after 2 years and NO CHANGE as in a great thing ... I have to beleive that they are all correct.
I get them at Sams or at Costco where you get a much better deal.
MAKE YOURSELF WALK every night  as soon as you get home from work.  Change your clothes ,grab your sweety and out the door for 30 minutes before you do anything .
That is how I do it .   It is now a habit so if I skip I feel guilty.
Hugs and blessings to you and your family

Shirley...I appreciate this so much.  I will ask Dr. Freeman about this and just plan to purchase some of those.  I will begin walking.  My neighborhood is about one mile around the circle.  I don't know if my sweety will go, but it would be good for both of us.  Thanks so so much!!!

Hi Carmen,

A great post.  I definitely have not left OH for FB.  I don't really post on either that much...I've always been mostly a lurker who pops out every once in a while when I'm lead to or I can't hold back any longer! LOL

About the Citracel...that is one brand of the kind of calcium we should take, but not the ONLY calcium that works for us.  We should take Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D added.  There is also a Calcium Carbonate that we do not absorb.  The calcium corbonate require stomach acids to be absorbs and since our stomachs (whre the stomach acids are) have been bypassed we do not absorb it.  One of the forms that calcium carbonate comes in is Viactiv chews.

Just make sure your calcium is CALCIUM CITRATE WITH VITAMIN D!!  Have a wonderful Sonday!!

Christ's peace,

This is an important post.  But let me tell you something as a newbie to the board; y'all rock, are very supportive, and are more active in conversation and care with one another than other boards (my previous state and other topic boards) I have been to.  I appreciate everyone here so much!

Some people will go to FB and that's okay. Maybe that's the support that works for them.  For me, FB is about visiting with my family and old high school and Air Force friends, so I don't want to be posting about how much I ate or my latest blood test or bm.  Know what I mean?  I feel safer here with that stuff.  But that is what works for me.

Mendy, I do apologize for not answering your post yesterday. There was so much I wanted to say and everyone said it!  See what happens when I look at the board late in the day?  ha!  WELCOME!

Again, please rest assured you are a fabulous group of people who make being on the board invaluable!

Thanks so much, Janice, but you all are pretty great too.  I just miss the ones that were here when I was new and the ones that have been here since.  I just want my family and friends back here.  You have a great evening!!!
