dr mailapur

i was just wondering if anyone had used him?  i attended the seminar and have scheduled a consultation next month. 

Hi Amy and welcome!  I cannot say enough good about Dr. Mailapur. He did both my and my daughter's surgery (I went first).  She will be a year out tomorrow.  Not only is Dr. Mailapur a great surgeon, his aftercare is tops.  If you have a problem after your surgery, he does not mess around.  He is very cautious.  Many surgeons don't want to deal with you after they are done with you in the OR. Hopefully you won't have any problems, but you need to know that a surgeon's aftercare reputation is paramount to your well-being.

Dr M is my doc and he's great! He was recommended by a friend who had her WLS done by him. He's a wonderful and caring doctor. I've recommended him to several people.

HI Amy, Dr M is my Surgeon, and EVERYTHING Kay said is right on! Dr M is wonderful and so is his aftercare he really care about his patients. I have also worked with him and he is a perfectionist in every aspect. (isn't that what we want in a surgeon?) He does seem to change office staff alot but that does not stop him from providing excellent aftercare. I did have a complication about 12 days out from my surgery (not anything due to Dr M) my distal hookup kinked over and healed shut so I had a small bowel obstruction-I was very nauseated and belched alot and with my research I knew those symptoms were normal for RNY gastric bypass so I just thought this was normal and I sucked it up for about 12 days when I couldn't take the nausea anymore I called Dr M on Mothers day Sunday and he returned my call right away-and he met me in the ER(don't know of ANY Drs that do that anymore-they usually just let the ER Dr. handle things and call them.) He stayed with me all the way to the CT scanner and scheduled my surgery for repair and I had open surgery the next morning and was all fixed up! I am 3 1/2 years out I lost 104 lbs and I am maintaing that! Just had my 3 yr labs and everything was perfect! I can't say when I was sick I was thrilled with my rny but now I wouldn't change a thing! I still follow the program-protein, water, exercise, vitamins, regular check ups but I won't lie I do have treats now and then and I enjoy them just not to excess! Life is GOOD!

hi amy! i'm in florence. did you get to have your surgery? i am almost 7 months post-op lapband surgery. my dr has moved away, and i'm hoping dr mailapur will take my follow-up care. i'd love to hear from you!
