For those of you that are patients of Dr. Zaria Murrell, you may want to obtain a copy of the Huntsville Times, today's (SUNDAY) edition.
There is an announcement on page A-8, that Dr. Murrell
is closing her practice of general and bariatric surgery. I believe the effective date for the closing
was given as September 18, 2009.

I have heard good things about her as well.
Glad that she is notifying patients by mail as well as
with the newspaper notiication.
I have a close friend who, in the past couple of weeks had begun the process and had her consultation with Dr. Murrell--only to learn via the newspaper yesterday, that she will have to begin the process over with a new surgeon. She was anticipating a
September surgery date--but even if Dr. Murrell could get her surgery scheduled and done by the closing date, I think you would not want to take such a step
knowing that the surgeon would not be there for follow up.
It will all work out for her. She works for a general surgeon and he had suggested Dr. Murrell, so I am sure
he will work to find another bariatric surgeon to take on her case.
It is always sad to see a practice close, especially when everything you have heard about them is good.
Hopefully everyone will be able to find another Physician to provide their follow up care for them.

That's wonderful that she is notifying people by mail and newspaper! I had a doctor that treated me for 8 or 9 years and he got arrested and lost his license due to some personal problems of his doing. I have absolutely NO idea where my records are, neither do any doctors in the area that have taken over my after-care. Thank God it was something that anyone could pick up and continue treating me for. it's sad though, for those that were fixing to schedule surgery or who have just had surgery. Maybe she'll recommend someone for those patients.
