Preop weight gain

I have put on about 7 pounds and am in the last month of my 6 month doctor supervised diet.  I know I need to get these pounds off.  I changed jobs when I started the diet...that combined with the "last supper' syndrome has gotten me in trouble.  I have three weeks until my last PCP appointment.  How much weight do you think I can lose before that appointment if I use protein shakes...basically, a liquid diet with my vitiamins and other supplements?  I want to kick myself in the rear but I don't want to be denied when I am so close....What are your thoughts?

I don't think you'll be denied just because you gained weight - it's my understanding that the 6mos supervised diet is to show that you have the ability to follow a plan.  Just get back on track.  Up your protein, lay off carbs, carbonated drinks and sugar.  Drink lots of water and walk every day.

I lost, gained, lost, gained during my 6 months....never had any problems with insurance....now, for your own recovery after surgery, it is better to lose a few lbs before surgery.....I lost some in the 2 months after the insurance approval up to my pre-surgery appointment.

And exercise!  I really do believe that was a key to my quick recovery!  Best wishes!

Thanks Kim, that makes me feel better.  I have an elliptical that I use.  It sure beats walking after work in this heat.

Yeah, what Lisa and Kim said.  One of the things about the pre-op diet isn't just that you can follow a plan but also, in a slight way, to see how your body does or does not do well with a traditional weight loss plan. 

BREATHE ... walk .... eat well .... BREATHE ....
