sugar and fat grams
Hi! Like the other two I do not count fat grams. I just try to eat as healthy as I can (and fail in that endeavor a lot) so usually there's very little fat involved. I have noticed that if I eat a meal that may have too many fat grams I'm in the bathroom with an upset stomach very quickly.
Now for the sugar. I had my surgery in 2004 so I can handle a little more sugar than the other two. I keep mine definitely below 8 grams. I know that at 9 or 10g I'm dumping.
When I got out of surgery and first started on solids, I remember dumping on a dab of ketchup on a piece of meat the size of a pencil eraser. It was sooo bad I will never ever forget it. And there probably wasn't even 1g of sugar in that dab of ketchup. That experience kept me away from ketchup for about 4 years. Still have to be very careful for some reason.
You are going to dump. There is just no way around it. There are sugars in things you never thought would contain sugar. But you'll hate it so much you'll learn quickly.
I wish you the best and remember, everyone's system is a little different when it comes to sugars and fats.
Good luck,
Gisela, aka Squirrelly
