Okay, I need you...
I just got a call from the Dr.'s office about the thing I had taken off my foot last week. They said it is Basal cell carcinoma. I am going to have to do some research but it has scared my heart. I have an appointment with another Dr. next week. I need some friends to help me today.
Don't worry unnecessarily - talk with the doctor and get all of your questions answered. My dad has basal cells removed often, with no problems. I wasn't so lucky.
After years and years of tanning, both outdoors and in tanning beds, I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma. Scared me enough that I sold the tanning bed, and hardly get out in the sun anymore. However, the damage has already been done. I see a dermatologist every 6 mos for skin checks - she looks me over good. It's the price I pay for those years I spent as a fat, but tan, girl, LOL. At my last visit, she was looking back over my chart - going over what they found and removed (in 2003) and she told me that I was very lucky - if it had been any bigger I would have to have treatments (chemo, radiation, etc.). I explained that I was indeed very lucky, because my husband (we were only dating at that time) was the one who spotted the mole on my upper back and suggested I get it looked at. I was seeing a dermatologist for another problem, and had an upcoming appt with her...when the doc saw it, she immediately did a biopsy. I got the call a few days later and had to go back for more surgery.
Didn't mean to write a book - but it's just a warning. Skin cancers need to be taken seriously.

Lisa, thank you so much for taking time to reply to me. I am better now. It just took me by surprise this morning and I was not expecting it at all. They are sending me to a plastic surgeon next Monday. I don't know what they are going to do but I know it is all good.
You keep a close check on your spots!! In my opinion cancer is like a snake. There is no GOOD kind!!
