I Want A Salad.
HI Amy!
How are you feeling these days? Good to see you posting!
I think I ate salad about three months out but I cut the lettuce up small and chewed it down to nothing. There is a low of water in the lettuce so it really is easier for some to eat than you'd think. Keep in mind that I had lap-band though so I don't know how different it would be for a RNYer.

i am roughly 5.5 months post op rny and i eat salads. they are small obviously, and only consist of lettuce, cheese, sliced ham/turkey, and bacon bits....(salad dressing too) and i handle them just fine.
b/c we all have to learn to eat all over again, its pretty much trial and error. i would suggest waiting until your released onto solid foods....and DONT TELL FACUNDUS you are eating stuff that isnt 75% protein!!!
i got chewed out the other day for eating wheat crackers with cheese and turkey!! jeez!
good luck!

I honestly dont remember when i ate a salad. I know it was a while out.
Now that im 4 years post op almost... i have to say that when i eat a salad.. it fills me up.. but i am able to eat more than i should.. So i have to be extremely careful.. I also try to eat more of the meat off of the salad, then anything else.. mainly bc if i dont. im hungry again in an hour or two.
I know someone said something about not telling Facundus youve had anything less than 75% protein but i get why... you have to learn your eating habits now.. If you get to where your eating slider foods alot (and i consider lettuce a slider, mainly bc it goes down smoothly for me and i can eat more of it) then you'll quit eating the dense protein... Dense protein is what you need the further out you get. I think that was a good bit ofthe problem w/ my regain.. i quit eating dense protein first.
Anywho.. good luck, just be careful when you try a salad. i'd way til i was atleast 6 weeks out and released on solid food.
