Hi Gary,

Good to have you in the area and on duty today!  Haven't seen you around as much lately.  You must be getting busy and doing lots more now that the weight is falling off!!

Have a great weekend!!

I'm here!  I've never been here but I like it already!  Being Alabama born and raised, it's a lot friendlier here!

Let me introduce myself!  My name is Janice Powell and I live in Linden.  Dr. Andrew Dewitt performed my surgery (RNY) on March 9th, 2009.  I was 222 pounds at my highest and now I'm 180..(42 pounds gone)!!  Before surgery I was a three shot-a-day diabetic plus two pills, had hypertension and sleep apnea.  I am no longer on shots or pills!!...or hypertension pills!! I still love my c-pap and could probably come off of it, but I love the way it makes me sleep.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Billy...33 years in December.  We have two boys, both married, two grandchildren, a girl and boy.  Family is the center of our lives!

Thank  you for letting me ramble.  I will forego the National RNY board and stay on the Alabama board from now on.    I didn't know they had it narrowed down by states!

Welcome Janice,

The more the merrier.  Our little board hasn't been as busy as it used to be!  We have some good people who post here and they will be there for you if you need support or just need to vent.

My name is Connie and I live in the Mobile area.  I had RNY on October 11, 2004.  My weight on surgery day was 310 lbs and my lowest was 150...my goal.  I did regain...you can click on recent posts and read about that.  I was 218 lbs 6 months ago and am now coming back down and am 185 lbs as of yesterday.  I would have this surgery over again, it saved my life, it just took me a while to deal with some head issues and appreciate the tool that I was given.  It STILL works after almot 5 years!!

I've been married to my husband Richard for 38 years this past May and we have a son and daughter, she's married - 3 grandsons, 7, 4, 19 months...I love my boys!!!

We are happy to have you join our board...your board.  EVERYONE is welcome.  You don't have to forego the Main board, alot of people check it and other boards out in addition to the Bama Board as we affectionally call it.  We are a family...sometimes dysfunctional...but aren't all families!!! LOL  Hope to see you here often!

Welcome JP.  it is a friendly board here--sometimes not a lot of activity though.

I find that from time to time, I get a little miffed on other boards as the "I have a superior surgery" crowd gets ramped up.  Sometimes I can't hold my typing fingers and wind up in a "serious discussion" with some of those folks--which I don't/shouldn't do cause I am such a newbie, and they are so intelligent and well versed on EVERYONE and EVERY type surgery.  I usually wind up getting flamed in those cases--cause my fighting forte is sarcasm (which does not translate well in the written word), but its all good.  After all, if everyone liked the same thing they would all have wanted to marry my Grandma.  Right?

Anyway--glad to have you here--and have a blessed day.

What a funny guy you are!  Thank you for the post.  I obviously have the same temperment because the "superior surgery" folks get on my last nerve.  If I've ever asked a question that seems simple to the superior crowd, I am made to feel stupid.  I resent the heck out of that!  But anyway, I have stayed off the board scene for a while now.  When I have a problem, I'll go to the Bama board where homefolks are!

Thanks for the support!!
