Calcium, Vitamins and B12
Since Gina has asked some questions about B12 I have been reading Colleen Cook's book again. Here is some things that I have come across that Dr Jacqueline Jacques who is world renowed profession in nutrition and vitamins has to say about how to take our meds. For our Mulit Vitamins take it with meals 3 x a day. Absorbs better. Now for the calcium it needs to be taken on an empty stomach for better absorption. Best if taken in doses of less than 500mg for a totally daily dose of 1200mg. Calcium Citrate and not carbonate. For B12 Dr Jacques says the best therapy is sublingual. This is not in the book but at a conference that I attended she talked about the gray area which is the low side of normal that we as gastric bypass patients neede treatment. Also you can not get to much B12 you body excrets the excess. Hope that I have helped some of you newbies and some of you older one's out.

For those of you who may be interested, the new Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate Chewy bites in Lemon flavor as really good. I have to stay away from them they are so much like a candy. I also purchased the Vitamin D drops and the new chewable vitamins. I have been very pleased with all the purchases. I know that lot of you don't keep up with these new products that are coming on the market, but all three of these have been really good and easy to use.
