I am saving money.
I live to see what the Publix Sunday/Monday one penny mystery item is each week. I have three friends at work who always ask me to send them a text to let them know what the mystery item is so that they will know whether they want to go get it or not. Sad huh? LOL

I did really well and was really pleased with what I got. Glad I am not the only one who gets thrilled over simple things.
You aren't the only one who loves to save a buck...and enjoys doing so!
I also love it too!
Many people CHOOSE not to shop at WM for they just don't enjoy the "experience", but IF you shop at WM you can price match anything in the store. So, if you have the ad to another store for a product you want, then just show it to the clerk who is ringing you up and she/he will change the price of your item. This doesn't apply to buy one get one free items or other store coupons. You can save ALOT of $$$ by doing this.
We just bought my soon-to-be-born grandchild a white Jenny Lind crib at Dirt Cheap store for $13. The only thing that it is missing is the hardware, so I called the company and I emailed the company to get the parts I need to put the crib together. We are going to buy a brand new mattress to go into the crib for you cannot be too careful with lying your baby on 2nd hand mattresses.
We bought a brand new carseat at the thrift store, still in the box - why would someone donate a new carseat, I have no clue for everything is perfect with this seat? I paid $35 for it.
We bought a highchair in EXCELLENT condition at the thrift store...for $10. The liner comes completely out and you can completely replace it by calling the company/asking for a new one - which we have and have PLENTY of time to wait for a new one.
We also bought travel playpen at the thrift store for $25 in EXCELLENT condition...looks like it has never been used! Again, all of the pieces come out and can be washed.
Karla, we feel really blessed to have found all of these items in preparation for Albert & Olivia's little one for such a bargain. We also got a great bargain on line buying the baby's crib set and accessories at Sears...we also caught it when Sears was offering free shipping!
Happy Shopping Karla!
Love ya,
Jackie
The last reason is not too pleasant to think about. There is a possibility that the baby it was bought for did not make into the world or left shortly after birth. Infant death has traditionally been so high among Mexican women that nothing belonging to the baby is allowed in the home until just before the baby is coming home. Even today, when you go to a shower of a Mexican-American woman, someone else will take the shower gifts home with them and keep them until after the baby is born. Usually the night before mom and baby come home, the family gather to bring all the gifts to the house and decorate the child's room. They don't even begin to set up a nursery until they know the baby is safely in the world. I am sure that it has saved a lot of mom's a great deal of grief. It also afforded the father a lot of grief, if the mother and baby both didn't make it home. It is a sad thing to think about, but even today it does happen. Now it is a rare event to lose both baby and mother, but there are so many miscarriages still.
Again, an unpleasant thought, but a woman mourns a miscarriage just like she would any other child. People often forget that the baby is very real to the mother and that she has a relationship to that child that the rest of the world does not have. Most women count all of their pregnancies when you ask them how many children they have had, not just the live births and living children. We have to deal with their grief a lot in counseling, and the fact that other people don't seem to understand what they are upset about when they have "just lost a fetus." I have also discovered that mother's who abort intentionally, are not prepared for the emotional trauma that follows. When they make that decision, they have not realized that they will go into mourning.
Ok, so I have rained on a very pleasant parade I am so sorry to do that, but it was just an opportunity to maybe reach out to someone who has lost a child, as well as, all of those who are so blessed with living, loving children. The fact that you want to kill them when they become adolescents is another thing to discuss...heeheehee.
If it happens to be something we don't use like white bread I simply get it and give it away. I NEVER turn down an item for a penny! :)

That is so cool that you are doing that too. I have a big huge binder full of baseball trading pages that is stuffed full of coupons. When I go shopping I can open the binder to the section (meat or whatever) and see the coupons and pull what I need. I always do the B1G1 sales. This week Breyers Ice cream is b1g1 free. I had $1.50 off 1 coupons for Breyers so I got 2 of them for 1.99 (1.00 for one .99 for the other). A lot of people don't realize that Publix splits the price of the B1G1 items and if you only want 1 of the item the cost is 1/2. I also bought the Bertolli Oven Bake meals that were on sale for 4.99 each (reg 7.99) and had $2.50 coupon off each one so I got these for 2.49 and 2.50 each. I so love my Publix. Bill got laid off in April and I am the only one working so I have got to save money!!!! I must have no life either cause I spend the week planning my groceries by what coupons I have...LOL

P.S. The mystery penny item for tomorrow/Monday is Publix brand apple juice
