OT: walk-a-thon

I am planning to walk in a walk-a-thon for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in August. I am not accepting donations at this time but I am wondering if anybody here might be interested in sponsoring me when the time comes.

Currently, there's a walk scheduled in Huntsville, August 29, but momma is wanting to have one in this area. I am waiting on information. It might turn out that walking in Huntsville is the way to go but we are checking out different options.

The person in charge in on vacation this week and I'm going on vacation Thursday so it will be a week or two before I'll know anything else. I'm just trying to scope out the possibilities.

Momma wants to raise awareness in this area by walking in her wheelchair but according to research, it's better to walk in more populated areas. I dont understand this. I know it's based on donations but I'm not seeking sponsors in big cities so why would it be better to walk in the city?
