Day 5 of plastics

I think I'm doing pretty well. I still have times off and on during the day when I feel totally yucky, but then have a few times when I feel almost human again. I am going back to the Dr Thursday and hope to have my drains out then. I know I'll feel better after that!
My biggest issue has been getting comfortable to sleep. I'm not a back sleeper at all and have not been able to get comfortable in the bed on my back so have spent most nights in the recliner which is still not ideal.
My pain is minimal at this point. Last night I took extra strength tylenol at bedtime instead of the normal pain med and I didnt sleep as well. Tonight it will probably be back to the pain med, but only at bedtime. It's been tylenol as needed during the day.
All in all I have done well, just not used to sitting around like this and feeling so yucky. I know each day will get better. I do like the results even with the swelling. Oh, and I took a shower yesterday... not an easy task but so worth it!

Phyllis,
I so feel for you my friend!  I'm sorry you are going through this, but from what I hear, it is SO worth all of it!  (I don't know for I haven't had plastics and I am not eligible either! )
I'm keeping you in my prayers for a full, speedy recovery!
Love ya,
Jackie

Good morning Phyllis,

Sounds like you are doing great.  I'm sure you will feel better once you get those drains out.  I've never had drains.  My doctor doesn't use drains for RNY, thank you Dr. Weinstein. LOL  I can't imagine what they must feel like.   That's the one thing that would intimidate me about plastics.  Hang in there, it'll be so worth it when you can wear clothes and not hae to worry about that droopy, saggy belly!!  Only a dream for me!!  Prayers still going up for you.  Have a great day...remember it will be so worth it.  ;-)

Christ's peace,

Sounds like you're doing well...I can attest to the sleeping.  It was very hard for me to sleep with those drains!  I ended up in the recliner, watching TV & dozing all night - even with the pain meds, I just didn't get comfortable enough to sleep.  Once those come out, you'll feel like a million bucks (and look like it too!!)

Hope you get to feeling better soon.  Thanks for keeping us posted.  In a couple of years, I hope to be able to have this kind of surgery.

Hang in there!  Sounds like you are doing great!  I don't want to burst your bubble, but don't be dissapointed if you don't get your drains out at your next appointment.  I had 4 drains and got the last one out 12 days post op and my doc said that was one of the quickest he ever saw.  Just be diligint about measuring their output so you can get them out as quick as possible!   Are you able to shower with them?  I took a robe sash, tied it around my neck and then pinned them to the sash so they didn't drag and hurt.

Glad you are feeling somewhat human again!!!
