eating post -op
That is what you should do, Amy...all surgeons are different with their directions. However, do not worry right now about getting all of your protein in...just drink what you can drink. I had to do liquids at first and then I went to soft foods. My first "food" was an egg and I thought I was in hog heaven LOL. You will do well I am sure. You ask any time you need advice or help. We will all help you. We want you to succeed.
Amy,
You are not doing anything wrong. You are doing what your doctor said. Right now your should not be worrying about protein. Clear liquids do not have proteins.
I'm sorry if I confused you with my post. When you asked about the Milos tea I just wanted to make sure you knew not to use caffeinated tea, only decaf. I live on decaf tea sweetened with Splenda because I don't do real well with plain water.
When I read the part about the sugar free ice cream it set something off in me. I wish they had never come out with sf products. The only thing they are good for is they don't affect blood sugar in diabetics in moderation. We as morbidly and formerly morbidly obese persons usually are addicts...food addicts and more often then not sweet addicts. These sf products feed into that addiction for most of us. I just don't want you or anyone else to fall victim to that. They still have calories and fats and carbohydrates and usually added fats to make up for the loss of sugar. They usually make a person crave sweets. When I wasn't eating ANY sweets, I never really wanted them. When I started eating sf products, I couldn't get enough. If most people here who have started eating them would be honest, they would say the same thing.
Again, YOU ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG. You are supposed to be just doing clear liquids now and getting used to drinking as much as you can. Be sure to stop drinking before you have your meals even though they are also liquid right now. My doctor said 30 minutes before meals and to wait 30 to 60 minutes after to drink. You use the time frame your doctor set. This will allow you to get a routine going for when you do go on solids. Routine is very important to make sure you get your liquids in and at the same time be able to stop drinking before meals and wait to drink long enough after meals.
Continue what you are doing Amy, you're doing a GREAT job!!!! Be sure and come back with any questions you have and I promise to try not to confuse you in the future. It is normal to feel unsure and we will support you here and we also want you to be successful. I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!
