Hey OH I'm only on my second day of the optifast and I'm weak, and am having stomach upset is this normal, mind you I have had a yardsale for the last two days and I'm give out. Just wondering if anyone else had undesirable side effects.

Sorry you're feeling this this. I can't help because I was not on Optifast just wanted to let you know I'll be praying for you. I had to do 2 weeks of liquids before my surgery and it was no fun! I did a lot of protein drinks and soups but no Optifast.

I think it is normal, especially for the first couple of days. The nurse told me that the optifast would probably cause diarrhea. Your body is accustomed to getting real solid food. I think you sort of go through withdrawls. When I started the optifast, I also gave up my diet cokes so I added caffiene withdrawl to my sympptoms. It will take time for your system to get used to the changes. I "cheated" some evenings while I was on the Optifast. I would have a salad instead of a shake but I still lost weight. If you can stick to it though that would be best. It will help you better prepare for those weeks afterward where liquid is all you get.

Thanxs so much you have no idea how much I want to cheat especially with something cheesy LOL but I'm determined not to I've only got three more days of this and I'm determined to do this. I was addicted to diet cokes as well, so caffiene addiction is a possibility I guess. Dr. F told me to cut my insulin in half since I'm not eating but for some reason  my sugar is staying high around 200, which is weird because Optifast has so little of anything in it. Problem is everyday my servings are getting smaller, Thursday I had four, Friday 3, Saturday 3, today so far 1 I'm having to make myself drink them and the more I force myself the more nausea I have and I'm supposed to have 5 a day. The worst part is I'm afraid that since I was only put on this for 6 days I'm not going to loose weight and he'll cancel surgery.

Well it sucks but it works I've lost 8 lbs since Thursday
