Pre-op bad news!

We'll my pre-op was today and my surgeon was none to happy that I gained 3 lbs since September 08. If I could keep my weight off I wouldn't need this surgery. The fact that I take insulin and am bloated right now due to womanly issues doesn't matter anywho. He's still going to do my surgery but he said I had to start optifast today, I'll do whatever I have to do. So I went to get my optifast and my goodness no one told me it was going to be $112.00 for five days, holy cow. Have I mentioned I lost my job on Tuesday. So here I go on the optifast journey wish me luck.
Thanxs, Amy

Amy...I am praying that you will do well.  I agree with Jackie.  I can fluctuate 2 - 3 pounds over night.  I weighed this morning and had lost 3 pounds since Monday.  However, I was very swollen Monday.  Women have this issues.  I know you will do well.  Please let us hear from you as you go along this fantastic journey.

Dr. F is pretty tough. I forgot to mention that the optifast was so expensive. I had alot of the optifast left over because they gave me 5 shakes a day but I could only do 3 and they won't allow you to return it. Mine cost 133.00. He will also insist that you take bariatric vitamins and suggest that you buy them from BWI (his office). My nurse in the hospital who had surgery herself told me and my husband that I could just get my vitamins at Walmart. I had my 2 week follow-up with the doc and they asked me what vitamins I was taking. I told them and Dr. F didn't like that a bit. He said those vitamins were not good enough and was furious that the nurse told me that. So I spent 60 dollars that day on the vitamins in his BWI shop. When I need refills, though I will try to find them online at cheaper prices. I hope this doesn't come off as discouraging. Having WLS was still one of the best things I've ever done but there will be negatives. Protein is expensive, vitamins are expensive, buying clothes that fit is expensive, and good food is expensive. Just be prepared and plan things out and you will be fine. Good luck and God bless.

Amy,

Sorry to hear about your job. You will do great, I just know it. Whe one dorr closes, another always opens. Look for the blessings God has in store for you! Put out a plea to see if anyone has leftover optifast (they are no longer using), who might be willing to give it to you or sell it to you at a reduced price. Dr. DeWitt did not require the optifast so I don't have any or you could certainly have any leftovers. Best of luck!! God loves you!!
