Too,Toooo Tired
My surgeon--a great one BTW, told me if I was not willing to walk after surgery--I should just get up and walk out of his office before surgery. His point--walking (activity is a major key for success. I have taken his advice to heart and walked everyday increasing my distance gradually from the end of my drive-way and back my first day home up to 4 miles per day (walking twice per day) up until a couple of says ago.
My concern is the last couple of days I have been so fatigued that I have been unable to maintain the pace. I did 2 miles yesterday morning, but felt so fatigued I could not walk last night. I started walking this morning but after 1/2 mile I was so tired and nauseated, I could not continue.
I'm the kind of person that can "bear up" to pain, but I can not get past this washed out sick fatigued feeling.
Get plenty of liquids and protein and take all supplements. Any suggestions?

Hi Gary. I am so sorry to hear this. You are always so upbeat and never seem like anything gets you down!!! I do feel like that at times. It is when I need a B12 shot. Of course I did not start the shots until much later than you are now. I think I was about 2 years out before I started the shots.
Don't you have an appointment with your doctor this week? I thought you said you would know how much weight you had lost this week. If you don't have an appointment you need to call your doctor. When I read what you eat on the board I always think you are not getting enough "food". The protein looks good but you are not eating much (just my opinion). Then I remember you are early out. Just don't wait too long before you call your doctor. There is a reason you are feeling like this and you need to find it. Let us hear my friend.

It could just be this heat, esp if you feel nauseous. Maybe you should up your liquids before you walk, like add another bottle? I've noticed that the heat & humidition has slowed me down, too. I do much better when its cooler. Keep on keeping on - you'll eventually acclimate yourself. It could be a B12 issue also. Just do what you can and talk to your doc about it when you see him.
Above all, don't get discouraged!! You're doing great!

I know what you mean about being bone tired. I take my B-12 shots regularly and all my lab work came back just fine, but I seem to be really dragging these last couple of months. To the point that I actually take a nap everyday after work...and then hit the bed around 10:00 PM. I take my vitamins and supplements and drink protein shakes daily so I can't for the life of me figure out why I am so danged tired.
Just wanted to let you know I can relate to what you said. I am far too fatigued to even think about walking.

You do so well with so much! Call the doc and ask their advice... they may have an idea or want to see you sooner or just offer some encouragement that will be helpful.
But remember too that fatigue is a sign you do need to rest. There is no shame in taking a nap if you need it. One of the things that we all have to learn in this process is that (not so) simple act of taking care of ourselves by listening and responding to the needs of our bodies.
I hope you feel perky soon!
