Denture Wearers Please Reply
Ok I have a question. I Have now lost over 50lbs and it seems as I am having more problems weiht my upper denture. I know this should be embarrassing but I have to ask. Has anyone else had this problem. Could this just be my imagination? Should I see a dentist and what can be done?
Thanks in advanced for any help.

Hi Kim,
I just got dentures last year after I had lost weight with my GB surgery in 2004, so mine were made at about the weight I am at now give or take 20 lbs. 50 lbs could make alot of difference I would think.
I know that my dentist was able to fix my partial on bottom by building it up. It seems your dentist could line them or something to make them fit better. My advice would be to go to your dentist. I don't think it is your imagination.
Good luck!!

Good morning, Kim!
I don't wear dentures, but I used to be a dental Assistant for a number of years. As you lose weight, your mouth will change also. You most likely need to have them relined. The longer you wear an ill-fitting denture, the more likely you are to have irritations and/or sore areas in your mouth. The dentist will most likely be able to take impressions using your existing upper...this will tell him how much acrylic to have the lab add so that you get a much better fit afterwards.
Hope this helps!!
