Carmen's PB Protein Shake OH MY!!!
I'm in heaven! This is absolutely the very best protein shake I've ever had in my life! Right after my surgery I tried a couple of different kinds of powdered protein powder and just didn't like them, or probably just couldn't get the hang of making my own.
In preparation of significantly increasing my protein intake while recovering from PS I gave it another go. Last weekend I bought some Gold Standard brand at The Vitamin Shoppe (Vanilla Ice Cream flavor) and tried one of Carmen's shake recipes tonight. Because I like them really thick I put my own spin on it and it turned out well.
Here is the recipe. I've renamed it "Ode to Carmen" LOL
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup skim milk (I used a whole cup)
1/2 mini blender of ice (I filled my full size blender 1/2 full)
1 tbs peanut butter
Mix really good
Mine ended up being a little too much, but I've been sipping on it for about an hour. I am actually eating it with a spoon. I love the little bitty ice chips in it.
YUMMY!

I never got the hang of making protein shakes like that. They always turned out with sooooo much foam on top. I gave up.
I have probably all of Gina's recipes saved, but well i cant bring myself to try them.
I actually LIKE protein shakes now (the RTD ones) but after all the wasted canasters of protein i threw away, im reluctant to buy anymore.
Im glad you liked it. Upping protein seems to work good for recovery!!

This sounds good and I might be willing to try it but like Hillary, I have wasted so much money on protein powders till I hesitate to buy more. I know that Dakota's Mom brought some samples of something like creamy orange (so good) but I can't remember what the brand name was. I really need to be getting in more protein. Maybe I'm encouraged enough to try again.
Love you girl.

Oh Phyllis...I am so honored...but I have to tell you that Randall and Memaw Pat were the ones who got my brain started going with shakes. The one you have above was one that came to me one day when I ran out of chocolate powder. I love pb and had vanilla...therefore...the shake. If you like the taste of coffee, you can add a tbls of s/f international coffee to any shake. Oh I love them. I have one each morning and believe me...I could gain weight drinking them LOL. To me they are better than milk shakes use to be.
I am thrilled that you like it. And it is so good for you too!!! Love you!!!!
