THE VETERAN
It is the VETERAN , not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion! It is the VETERAN , not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN , not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN , not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote. It is the VETERAN , who salutes the Flag, It is the veteran, who serves under the Flag, ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM. God Bless them all!!! I don't usually suggest that many emails be forwarded, but I'd be EXTREMELY proud if this one reached as many as possible. We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve I have been Blessed in life...only because I believe in my country and what it stands for! |
Today has been set aside to honor our war dead and those veterans who have gone on.
I have never met a veteran who did not feel honored to have served his country. Even the ones who have performed heroic acts feel they are/were not worthy of the praise and awards given them for their actions. After all they were just doing their job.
All veterans ask is a simple "Thank you" for their sacrifices and perpetual care for the injuries both mental and physical they suffered during that time of great service.
I feel honored to have served for twenty-five years. This day and Veterans day is to only time I list my service here. I feel a great sense of pride to be included with the greatest citizens our country has ever produced, its military.

Since I am using Glenn's computer I sign off as Brenda A.
Today is one in which we honor those who have served in the military to keep our country free. I am very proud of Lt. Colonel Robert Glenn Abernathy, U.S. Army (retired), his service, but mostly to be his wife. We are very proud of Glenn's daughter Pamela who served more than five years in the Navy. Pamela's husband Wayne is stilling serving in the Navy as a pilot. Today my dad would be very proud of Glenn and his family. My dad was a WWII veteran who couldn't have been more proud to serve so I honor him today. We have many friends who served our country proudly. We need a day to honor the families of those who serve in the military. It is very hard for families when daddy or mommy is serving. Those of you who have your grandchildren within reach, grab them a hug them. We must travel all the way to the desert in Nevada to hug our precious babies because the family is willing to serve our country. So today I salute the veterans and their families for their service.
Thank You and God Bless You.
