Moving to Y'all
Howdy,
I was just told yesterday that I am going to work at Maxwell AFB (Montgomery) by the end of the Summer. Before living in Ohio, my home was in middle Georgia, so the south isn't a problem, I am overly excited to be moving back near my children and granddaughter (if three hours is considered near!) and to go to a cool position.
So I thought I would stop in and say "hi!" I'd like to connect with some people who understand this process and stress eating and stress (moving can be stressful even if its good). And advice about where to live, work out, and worship is always good too!
Take care,
Janice
Welcome to the Bama Board and eventually to Alabama! I'm about an hour east of Montgomery so I can't help you with the details of the Montgomery area but I"m sure someone will chime in there. This is a very active board so you've come to the right place for support and info.
It quits down some on the weekends but livens up more on the weekend.
We're thrilled you've joined us!
BTW..was it the Macon/Warner Robins area you lived in? I'm just outside of Columbus.
Don't be a stranger!

Thanks, Debbie!
I was noticing the Y seems pretty busy. I am hoping that I can work out at the base, but we'll see what their civilian usage policy is. Working out at lunch or immediately after work always makes my day go better.
I like living in a city, but my impression is that Mongtomery is not the best place to live downtown. Have I missed something?
As for church, my denomination is a rare bird in those parts as I am Catholic. But I prefer smaller parishes with good music and a connectedness to the community and other Christian denominations. So some life is good.
I'd love to meet up with everyone :-) I am loving this board.

Welcome to Alabama! I'm one of those rare Catholic birds too. I live further south in Mobile area, but work for the Archdiocese of Mobile whi*****ludes Montgomery. When you decide what area you are looking at I may be able to help you with parish information. The larger parishes in Montgomery are St. Bede and Holy Spirit. There are smaller parishes in the outlying areas and in the small towns areound. In Prattville there is St. Joseph.
Again, welcome to Alabama and the Bama Board. If you want to e-mail for some information, my personal e-mail is [email protected].
Hope to TTYL!!
