The name of the toy, from wayyyy back in the day, it was an octogon shape & has shapes cut out & then had little plastic blocks that fit in the correst shapes? It was red & yellow, I think. You could pull it apart to empty the shapes.   Anybody remember the name of it, or even if they still make them or something like them?   Thanks!

I guesss I just thought it came from Toys R Us. It says its from Tupperware so I have no idea how I got it. If you go to this website you can see the picture and I know that's what you're talking about. Just copy and paste the following address and it will show you the pic!!

PRODUCT: Tupperware Shape O Ball

DESCRIPTION: A plastic shape-sorter ball with ten shapes, and handles to pull the ball apart. Diameter is 16.5 cm. Suitable for children aged 6 months upwards.

GOOD POINTS: This is a classic toy which is a great shape-sorter
as well as a rolling rattle. It is a ball-shaped toy with one half red and the other blue. Each half has five different shapes cut out of it, into
which your child must feed through the correct matching shape piece.

The toy comes with ten yellow shape pieces in total, which are chunky and a good size for young children to grab and hold. Each shape piece also has a number on one side with the corresponding number of dots on the other, which is ideal for introducing numbers and counting skills.

The ball is great storage for the shapes, and comes with two handles which pull the two halves apart to release the shapes. In all, this is a great toy which is educational, easy to transport, and very durable.

BAD POINTS: The ball may be difficult for a younger child to pull apart by themselves.

Yes it was tupperware. I had one as a kid!
I loved it. I remember pulling it apart and the yellow blocks falling out and starting again.

I just played with one the other day.  It was my day in the Nursery at church.  I had one when i was little too.  Does it have a name?

They were called shape sorters. ToysRUs has a couple made by Fisher Price, but they are not the round balls that you can pull apart to empty the blocks.
