People are free to choose to believe in
religion or their God

People are also free to be free from religion if that's what they want.

If I believed in god, I'd believe in one who couldn't care less WHAT words I used, as long as I used them to do the right thing - like stand up for a friend.

If I were God and wanted people speaking for me, I'd make them SMARTER.

Just sayin'.  hehe!

FastFingers, I agree with you, in Christianity it doesn't matter what words are used.

However, in organized religion (and there is a difference) there is a stigma placed on using so called foul language.  I don't believe God cares what words you use, it is the anger and attitude that caused her to use the words that He preaches against.  And it is very sad that there are those (not speaking of you, FastFingers) who somehow feel superior by mocking her beliefs.  I hope that agnostics, atheists, Buddists...however many different beliefs are represented here are not treated the same.  I have not seen any comments as such, but there may be.

Do we not have more things as a country, as a community of people who have had to have surgery to combat a health issuse, do we not have more productive things to do other than make fun of someone for their beliefs, their questions and their grammer? Are people really that insecure that  they have to act that way? Very sad!!

I think what Susan was trying to say is that while, yes, she was defending a friend, which is admirable and in the greatest of Christian traits, she could possibly have handled it in a more Christ-like manner being a follower of Christ.  Actually there is PLENTY in the Bible about that (just a few quotes below) and so a follower of Christ would know that God DOES care about our words.

It's a shame people have to make fun of others for their beliefs.  People just minding their own business, and wham!  Attacks for no reason whatsoever.

Matthew 15:11: "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

Matthew 15:17-20: "Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man."
Colosians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Psalm 19:14: "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."

I very much agree with these verses, which is why I said it was the anger and attitude that was not inline with Christian practice.  Words that are considered "foul" are considered foul because of the human spin put on them.  I try not to use the "bad" words myself (I fail) and don't care to be subjected to them, but using them does not mean you are going against what the Bible teaches.  Using them in anger and with a bad attutide does.  Telling someone to "have a lovely day" but doing so with a bad spirit and ugly attitude can fall under any of the teachings you posted.  Just as someone walking up and say "how the H#ll are you doing??" while throwing their arms around you and smiling doesn't displease God.  Yes, the "H" word was not needed in the sentence, but it is only a "bad" word because society as labled it as such.   Again, I think it is more a difference in the teachings of different denominations.  And everyone's beliefs are personal but if (as Christians) they follow inline with what Jesus has taught then there shouldn't be a problem.
I respect your viewpoint, but I just wanted to explain my position on my statements. Thanks!

BTW... Psalm 19:14 is one of my favorites!

You are correct Kay, I was trying to say that I should have handled it in a more Christ-like manner.  Before I even knew it, the old deilish Susan took over and went to wagging that foul tounge.

Last night I prayed abotu it and feel a peace.  I am not going to go on about it, it is done and over and life will go onward.  I am learning, it may be a sloe process but  I AM LEARNING how to be a better follower of the Lord!  By no means am I a perfect person, nor will I ever be!

Thank you Kay for your scriptures and for understanding where I was coming from!

Agreed!!!! And neither does being able to quote the Bible verse for verse!!

However for me regular worship, even if it is not in the traditional setting of a church,  helps me to live (hopefully) in a more Christ-like way so that (again...hopefully) I am more of a witness to others who see how I live my life the other days of the week and not just on Sunday and Wednesdays.  It makes me feel more peaceful....happier.

Not perfect...just forgiven...

Guess thats a good thing because I hardley ever go to Church (due to us working, past and present).  You don't have to go to church to be a Christian nor to praise the Lord!  It helps, but you don't have to go!  I study my bible, do lessons, tith, pray and even sing gospel music.  What am I missing?  The actual building?
Acts 7:48, "Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"

Acts 17:24, "God...dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"
