you guys, i am so so so so stressed out right now... please offer any advice or comforting/supportive words that you can muster for me.

y'all know all about me losing my job in november, right? well, since i lost my job i also lost my insurance and have been having to pay the exorbitant COBRA rates since december. (that takes up half of my unemployment money for the month!!)

well, here it is the end of april and i haven't made my april payment yet because i just don't have the money for it anymore. i got a thing in the mail this weekend saying that i qualify for the reduced rates under the new stimulus package but that doesn't take effect until may. i STILL have to pay full price for april. and if i don't pay for april in the next two days? i get dropped!!!

it's so not fair and i'm absolutely hysterical right this minute trying to figure something out

I am so sorry you are going through this. This is economy sucks...Did I say that? I don't know if it would hel*****t but there is a free clinic in Decatur for those without insurance. With having had that surgery they might not help.I will send positive vibes your way and pray for you. Have you checked into Community Action up here for some help? Sorry I couldn't be of better assistance.God Bless!

i make "too much money" to use the free clinic

and plus, i HAVE to maintain health insurance coverage because i'm a post-op and if i don't, i'll have to wait YEARS before i'm eligible for insurance coverage again. and also, what if something "happens" to me? dr. facundus doesn't do pro-bono work, lols!!

*le sighs* i'm just screwed.

I wish there was something tangible I could do for you.  I can only offer words of support and prayer.

Prayer is a powerful thing.  I have stopped before I answered your post and said a prayer.  I have faith that God can show you a solution.

I will continue to pray for you and your baby.  I know there will be LOTS of prayers going up from this Bama Board.  Whether they post or not, there are people of prayer here and they will lift you up.

Hang in there sweetie.  I do care.  Take a deep breath. Hysteria, though it is a normal reaction won't help...you need to think clearly.  I know you can figure this thing out.  You will get the help you need.  I KNOW IT!!

Christ's peace,

Amanda...you know I love ya!!!  I also do not have a clue as far as what to do.  I know that when my husband retired, I had no insurance.  I went with BC/BS open enrollment.  While the insurance is not that great and I have a $1,000.00 deductible per year, it does help in the event I have to go in the hospital.  Also, they did not ask about my WLS or any other "pre-existing" conditions.  You might want to call them and ask if they are having open enrollment.  My premium is $192.00 per month.  It is too high, but ya gotta have it.  I am praying for you my sweet friend.

Amanda,
Carmen is on to something, I had my bypass using BCBS which paid 100%. I then was unemployed and on my fathers insurance I then about 1 year later started working and was able to get bcbs again with no problem at all. My insurance at work is great, it even payed for my plastics, so its really may be worth you looking into! I wish you luck!
