OT: adhesions/scar tissue
Ok--we have seen what this has done for Sandy...is there anyone else that can tell me what symptons of this could be? I ask because I have { at times} a terrible crampimg in my right side that occurs from time to time either from bending over, bend down or trying to do push ups. It only last a couple of minutes after I sit there and push back with my stomach. When I told my phy. about this , she claims it is scar tissue{ adhesions}. I have just let this go not really worrying about it.
So I guess what I am asking is--should I seek assistance with this problem? My doctor doesnt seem to be concerned--but she is not real keen on WLS patients or the fact there of. I dont trust her judgement as far as this goes and feel like I should but I know she cant realiably recommend a wl friendly surgeon. Which I know alot of this area now so that should not be a problem for me.

That is exactly why I went to the hospital that the surgeon who did my bypass is at. I didn't want to end up at some hospital or get a doctor that didn't have a clue about WLS. The surgeon that did my bypass is the one that ordered the xrays and scans that showed the scar tissue/adhesions and therefore he was able to diagnose it and do the surgery himself.
My advice to you would be to talk to your WLS surgeon about it. See what he thinks.

Becky, I have TONS of scar tissue & adhesions. My surgeon told me that some are just more prone to developing it. I do have pain, but they cannot do a lot about it. Some of my organs are even fused together. I have severe endometrosis as well, which is basically the same thing.
I agree that you should seek out a surgeon that is WLS friendly.
Best wishes & love to you,

I didn't realize you were so far away from your WLS surgeon. I would at seek out a good surgeon, maybe check with a local surgeon's office that does WLS and see if they can recommend a general surgeon. Get some xrays and scans done to see if you have adhesions. The surgeon that did my WLS is also a general surgeon (though his practice is mostly WLS) which was really convenient in my situation. Good luck in finding a surgeon and keep us posted.
Those nasty adhesions can be painful...and the bad thing is that they can come back and Dr. Lane told my husband that there's nothing you can do to prevent it. Some people are just more prone than others to develop problems. My problem was a result of scar tissue from radiation treatment from when I had cancer back in 2000. I also have bladder and colon damage as a result of the radiation...but at least I am alive to complain about it...LOL.

Becky,
First, let's get this straight - Trace is my man! LOL! I will be seeing him in concert again next weekend - can't wait!
Second, I know where you are coming from. For almost a year, I have been having extreme pain on my right side where they took my gall bladder out in 1991 (didn't have gastric surgery until 2004).
I have a routine appt. with my IM doctor soon, to check my iron, etc. so I am thinking I need to ask for an abdominal ultrasound, CAT scan, colonscopy or something. This pain is starting to be too much.
So with that being said, just know that you are in my thoughts and you keep me in yours while we figure out what our problems seem to be.
