Lapband
I don't know anything about lap band but I wanted to say hello and welcome to the Bama Board. There are several people on this board who have had lap band surgery and I am sure once they read your post will be more than happy to help you out. We are thrilled that you are here. Please keep us updated on your progress.
I there and welcome. I have had my band for about 2 1/2 years and I'm amazed at how it still works!! Of course with any type of WLS you can be successful or not, it depends on your attitude and dedication. I wish you the best on your journey. If you have any questions I'll be glad to share my experiences. Everyone is different but the end result should be the same.
It really depends on your insurance company as to how long the approval process takes. Mine only took about 10 days (I have BCBS of GA) but I've heard of some taking 4-6 weeks. Your Drs office can probably give you some idea of how long you'll have to wait for a response.
Dont be a stranger.

Yep, what Carmen said!!!
Welcome to the board! I had Lapband in Aug 07. Down 90lbs and feeling great. I have about 40lbs to go then I will be THRILLED. It has been like giving me a new life.
BC/BS pays for most Lapband surgeries but it depends on the policy. We had BC/BS of Florida and our particular policy would NOT pay a dime. So we had to do the entire thing out of pocket.
It was worth it. I no longer take insulin shots, I run 3-4 times a week, and I can play with little girls without running out of energy and breath!
So, keep posting! Lots of great folks who will surround you with support, care, and laughs.
