What a SURPRISE!!!

My baby girl just got engaged.  We had our first family meal together tonight.  Jill, Clint, Holly, Beau, Christian, my Daddy, Kyle and myself were all here around our beautiful 8 chair dining table.   It was beautiful.  I had cooked a pot roast with taters, carrots and onions in the crock pot today, added some corn, beans  and rolls for a complete dinner along with a lemon meringue pie for dessert.  Clint had asked to speak to Kyle before dinner but we all had no clue what was coming.  During dessert, he got down on one knee and asked my Jill to marry him.  It's supposed to be at least a year before they get married.  Heck, I just want her to graduate in May.  She will graduate May 15th.  We are all in shock, as they haven't been dating that long, but have known each other for many years.

We have had our plates quite full lately, but this too shall pass.  I've got faith that God has his hands in all that we are and do.

CONGRATS to them!   And what a special way to handle it - by including your entire family AND talking w/her dad beforehand.  Best of luck to them both!!

Well, what could we do?  At least he asked before hand.  I asked Kyle was was he thinking??? Giving his permission.  He said he would of done it either way, he guessed.  They've only dated a couple of months but have known each other for years.  At least we know she's NOT PREGNANT.  That's a good thing, thank God.  That seems to be the case in most young people these days getting married so young.  We o know that this is going to be at least a year long engagement.  Thanks for the congrats and luck.

Congrats to all!  What a good job this fellow did wanting to talk to Kyle first, very respectful.

Elle we sure did miss you at Oak Mountian!  I know you have had a lot on your plate lately and was probably really busy.  Hopefully you all can come next year or maybe up to Randall and Lucy's gathering in Aug/Sept (?)!

Have a great day!

I really missed being there with everyone and getting to meet the new folks.  We have been super busy, that's for sure.  I cannot even catch my breath till something else comes up.  I hope to see everyone soon.  I hope we can have a B'ham dinner sometime soon too.  I really miss those.

We're still in a state of shock, I think.  They are not planning to get married for at least a year.  We hope not anyway. She's just so young.  She will be 19 in December.
