I had my surgery there a little over a year ago and I feel that I got GREAT care at Mobile Infirmary.  My surgeon was Dr. Lane, who works in the same medical practice group that your surgeon is in.  The nurses were attentive and my pain was well managed while I was there.  You are in great hands with Dr. Hannon...all the surgeons in that group are top notch.  If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.

It's amazing how quickly I forget things.  I honestly don't recall having to do any special diet before my surgery, but I dunno.  Seems like I just couldn't eat the night before.  I may be mistaken, but I don't think I had to do a week of liquids.  I had to battle my insurance company (BCBSAL) for approval so it took a little longer between my setup appointment and my surgery date.  Seems like it was pretty quick once I got my approval though.  Maybe two weeks.

All surgeons do things differently, even within the same practice so Dr. Lane and Dr. Hannon may not do things the same.  Also, not sure what your BMI is right now, but mine was 43 when I had my surgery and sometimes if your BMI is higher, they want you to do a liquid diet to help shrink your liver a little more before your surgery.  Hopefully you won't have to though.

Let me know how your setup appointment goes and if you have to do a special diet.
